Celtic Solstice Final

(Updated to link-up at Quiltville.)  Tomorrow is the day Bonnie Hunter has scheduled for all the final link-ups to see everyone's Celtic Solstice progress.  I can do this post, and post it to my own wall tonight, but tomorrow I'll be on the road all day and will not have internet access until who knows when.  I know she usually leaves it open for about a week, so I'm sure I'll be back on within that time.

Who knows, if I can figure out how to start my mom's computer, I may have internet access through her wi-fi by late evening tomorrow, if I'm there by then.  It's a 14 - 16 hour drive provided there are no weather issues, and provided my tires don't decide to blow out on me at any point.  I realized too late today, and my plan is to leave no later than 3:00 a.m., that they have over 80,000 miles on them and are six years old but still have tread and are not showing the time-to-replace bars though there are tiny visible cracks all over the sides!  I will get new tires when I'm up there, if I can find something other than snow tires, lol.  I hope I'm not testing the Lord by waiting.

Back to Celtic Solstice and quilts.  When I began putting on the first (inner) border, I kept thinking to myself that I really disliked adding borders.  Isn't that strange?  I don't recall ever feeling that way about borders before.  I'm not sure why I felt that way.  They weren't hard to do, and everything lined up reasonably well.

Draped over stair railing.  Not able to get a complete shot.

Adding the second border, the inner pieced one wasn't too difficult either, and by then that initial feeling of not liking to add borders wasn't quite as strong.

Also draped over the railing, but taken from the opposite side which is at the top of the stairs with me backed into a bedroom doorway..

Oh, Flame was watching Eleanor Burns while I was putting on borders :)  She's really my quilty cat more than Raven.

I found I was almost enjoying adding borders by the third and final one.  When I chose the specific fabric for the outermost border, I wasn't necessarily crazy about it but it seemed to be the best one overall to go with the greens already in the quilt (including a few pieces of the border fabric) and frankly, I really like it now that it's on.

And so, my Celtic Solstice top is finished.  It will join the ranks of other UFO's for a time.
