Stash Report Week 50
We're closing in on the final reports for 2013, only two more weeks and we'll be starting fresh in 2014. My reporting method will change. Currently, I have only counted yardage out of the stash when a quilt has been completely finished...and there's only been one of those this year, but there have been many starts.
For 2014, I will count yardage in stages.
- When I have a flimsy, I will count that yardage.
- When I pin a backing to it, I will then count the backing fabric.
- When it's finished, I will count the binding.
That goes for anything that has not yet reached the flimsy stage. I have a number of quilts already at flimsy, or with backs pinned, and bindings made for which I've never counted as out of my stash. If I work on them at all, I will count the fabric as used during that week up to the stage they're in, and make a note on the corresponding record sheet so that I don't accidentally count it again.
I believe I'll see some better numbers used for 2014. At this moment, I'm not expecting to be adding much unless Marty finds a job.
I'll link this up now at Patchwork Times. Note that there is still no change from a few weeks ago when I last reported.
Used This Week: 0 yards
Used Year to Date: 10.25 yards
Added This Week: 0 yards
Added Year to Date: 46.375 yards
Net Used for 2013: -36.125 yards
That's the method I decided to use, too. Some times it's a long time before a top becomes a quilt and goes out the door. (I have some from several years back waiting on my shelf.) I've only been counting since October and already realize I need to keep notes or a chart to keep me from counting twice!
ReplyDeleteGlad you found a way to report your numbers that works for you. I only count when 100% done or I would be completely confused about what went out and when. Now that your sewing area is back together I hope you will find some time to spend in there.
